Step 3 Configure each mapping agent and candidate RP as described in this section. You can configure a candidate RP with the arguments and keywords described in
Table 1-8
. Tip You should choose the candidate BSRs and candidate RPs that have good connectivity to all parts of the PIM domain. Note We recommend that you configure the candidate RP interval to a minimum of 15 seconds. You can configure a candidate RP with the arguments and keywords described in
Table 1-6
. You can configure a candidate BSR with the arguments described in
Table 1-5
. Note Cisco NX-OS always uses the longest-match prefix to find the RP.

Router Setup for Load Balancing

Organizations wanted to improve accessibility of applications running on servers. Eventually, load balancing took on more responsibilities with the advent of Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs). They provide security along with seamless access to applications at peak times. Many businesses and organizations are choosing to introduce failover capabilities by adding a second wired link to an existing branch router. This is a good start, but it still leaves the router and the wired links as potential weak points. Two routers with different types of WAN connections is the way to go, and modern LTE and 5G wireless data increase the durability of a network.

Switch Security

If the MRIB wireless Router lookup yields a route, that route
is used for selecting the RPF interface. Therefore, any configured Static Mroutes
matching the source wins the selection process over a ‘Connected’ route to the source. For a static mroute to be considered for selection, the specified interface must be up
and PIM must be enabled on it. If multiple Static Mroutes exist with equal longest
prefix match, the mroute with the lowest Admin distance will win. Admin distance is not
be used to compare selection between unicast RIB and MRIB routes.

  • Additionally, it can be integrated with other systems through an API.
  • The more engagement you receive during the warmup period, the better the ISPs will favor your IP.
  • To assign a static IP address by hand, we need to find one that is available.
  • When you assign a unicast address
to more than one interface, you turn the unicast address into an anycast address.

To enable IP Domain Name System (DNS) alias lookup for TACACS+ servers, use the command in global configuration mode. To disable IP DNS alias lookup, use the no form of this command. Use no tacacs-server directed-request to disable the ability of the user to choose between configured TACACS+ servers and to cause the entire string to be passed to the default server. This command is especially useful in cases where the router has many interfaces and you want to ensure that all TACACS+ packets from a particular router have the same IP address.
